Have you ever seen one of those ''Salt Life'' bumper stickers and wondered what it would be like to live within walking distance to the beach? Let me give you a glimpse into a day in the life of a resident of Villages of Vilano, one of the most sought-after beach communities, in Northeast Florida. Your day begins just before dawn as you slip on your water shoes and grab a cuppa Joe before heading across the street to the elevated walkway to the beach. Just as the first rays of light are peeking above the flat horizon of the Atlantic Ocean, you take a seat under the private beach cabana. Sipping your coffee, you read a chapter from your favorite inspirational book as you watch the sun rise in all its splendor. Then you take off on your morning run, deciding to head about a mile and a half south along the beach to the Vilano Beach Town Center so you can pick up a few things at Publix before jogging back home. (See supplement) You arrive back at the clubhouse just in time for your water aerobics class that will be starting soon in the heated indoor pool. After class you decide to take a quick sauna and then you pop your head into the gym to say good morning to some of your neighbors doing their morning work-out. On your way home, you pass the pickleball and tennis courts and stop to say hello to the guys who are playing too hard to stop and chat. You head inside to take a quick shower before preparing lunch for your afternoon boating trip with the grandkids. One of the features that sold you on VOV was the onsite boat/RV storage yard (although you had to wait for an available space), and the neighborhood boat ramp providing direct access to the Intracoastal Waterway. At the end of a long day boating, the grandkids insist on a quick dip in the outdoor pool before heading home. You look forward to a relaxing dinner on your screened porch where you can enjoy the serene view of ducks paddling lazily in the pond right out your back door as the vibrant colors of sunset reflect off the water. Then you head back in for a peaceful glass of wine as you read by your new electric fireplace which adds beauty year-round regardless of the weather, with no more worries about corrosion from the salt air--one of the best decisions you've made! Tomorrow you might take the kiddos down to the Vilano pier to chase the pelicans that boldly beg for treats from the fishermen and maybe the kids will be lucky enough to catch a fish of their own. Then you'll take them to lunch on the outdoor deck of the Beaches waterfront restaurant right next door. You can't wait until the oceanfront pavilion is completed in time for concerts this summer. How blessed you feel to have found this completely renovated home in this little piece of heaven where someone does your yardwork for you and you are free to simply enjoy the many activities available in historic St. Augustine, only a short drive or boat ride away.
